Our Statement of Commitment To Child Saftey

At AMONDOS, we support the rights of children and young people and commit to providing ethical and transparent practices to promote safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments for children and young people and their families.

AMONDOS dedicate our service to providing safe and supportive environments for all children and young people according to their needs.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to any child harm and commit to providing care environments and workplaces where children and young people feel safe, respected, valued, and empowered.

We are committed to listening to and respecting children’s views, promoting cultural safety for Aboriginal children and young people and children and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The participation of children and young people is actively promoted in decisions that affect them, in care environments and in all our workplaces.

AMONDOS commits to child safety and wellbeing through all levels of our organisation and we strive to provide an environment where a child-safe culture is developed and maintained.

AMONDOS recognises the framework child safe outlined in the Children’s Guardians Child Safe Standards:

1. Child safety is embedded in institutional leadership, governance and culture
2. Children participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously
3. Families and communities are informed and involved
4. Equity is upheld, and diverse needs are taken into account
5. People working with children are suitable and supported
6. Processes to respond to complaints of child sexual abuse are child-focused
7. Staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children safe through continual education and training
8. Physical and online environments minimise the opportunity for abuse to occur
9. Implementation of the Child Safe Standards is continuously reviewed and improved
10. Policies and procedures document how the institution is child safe.

AMONDOS policies emphasise that:

  • Participation of children and young people is encouraged and supported, and their concerns are managed.

  • Standards of expected behaviour for management, staff and stakeholders are embedded in a code of conduct that is adhered to by all.

  • Suitable staff are recruited and supervised after rigorous selection processes with background and reference checks as required by legislation.
